The math

Most solo trades lose 5–10% of what they bill.

On $120,000of gross annual billing — normal for a solo plumber — that's $6,000 to $12,000 of earned cash that never lands because invoices got forgotten, chased by hand, or paid late enough to hurt.

Auto-reminders get most of that back. If ProPay recovers even $500 a year that you would have written off, the 1% fee pays itself back five times over.

(Also: you stop being the collection agent. That's worth something.)

How it works

Three things. Nothing else.

01

Write an invoice in the truck.

Customer name, amount, one line about the job. Send. You're back on the road in 60 seconds. Full line items and notes available when you need them.

02

Customer pays with a tap.

They get a text with a link. Tap → pay with card (Stripe) or Venmo → done. No account to create, no app to download.

03

We chase the ones who drag.

T+3, T+7, T+14 reminders go out automatically. You stop being the collection agent. Your cash flow straightens out.

From the customer's side

Just a text. Just a tap.

Your customer gets one message. It has your business name, the amount, and a link. They tap. They see a clean invoice with a big button. They pay.

No account. No download. No “log into our portal.” Same friction as paying a friend on Venmo — but it looks like a real business.

Positioning

Not a platform. A tool.

Most software for the trades is a full field-service management platform — scheduling, dispatch, crew, CRM, invoicing, payments, reporting — bundled together and priced for 2–20 person shops.

If you're a solo trade or a two-person operation, you don't need any of that. You need to send an invoice when the job's done and get paid. That's the whole thing. ProPay is only the invoicing and collections part — no scheduling or dispatch pretending you have a crew.

It does six things well: invoice, send, get paid, remind, track, tax-export. Nothing else.

Pricing

Frequent questions

A few things people ask.

What do you charge, really?
1% on card payments (collected at checkout), 0.5% on Venmo payments (accrued when you mark the invoice paid and settled monthly), nothing on cash or check. On a $500 card invoice you'd receive ~$480 ($485 after Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢, minus $5 to us). On a $500 Venmo invoice, $500 hits your Venmo account directly and ProPay's $2.50 fee shows up on your monthly statement.
Do my customers need an account?
No. They get a text with a link, tap it, and pay. No download, no sign-up, no password. That's the single biggest reason plumbers move off Venmo — the customer experience is easier here.
What about Venmo specifically?
Set your @handle in Settings. The invoice shows a 'Pay with Venmo' button alongside the card option — customer taps, Venmo opens with the amount and invoice number pre-filled. The money hits your account directly. When it lands, mark the invoice paid in ProPay and we accrue a 0.5% fee for the infrastructure that got you there. Fees are settled monthly.
Is this just for plumbers?
No. Built with solo trades in mind — plumbers, electricians, HVAC, landscapers, handymen, painters, cleaners, pest control. Anyone who does work and gets paid after. Probably not right for subscription-based businesses or retail.
Can I import my customers?
Yes. Export as CSV from your current tool (Google Contacts, Jobber, Housecall Pro, Excel) and upload. We auto-detect the name, email, and phone columns.
How fast do I get paid?
Stripe's standard payout schedule — typically 2 business days from when the customer pays to when it hits your bank. On your first payout Stripe runs a quick verification which can take up to 7 days; after that it's the 2-day cadence. Venmo is instant since it goes directly to your Venmo balance.
How secure is this?
Card numbers never touch ProPay — they go straight from the customer's browser to Stripe, who handle PCI compliance. We store invoices and customer names, not payment info. Supabase RLS means even if someone broke into our database, each contractor can only see their own rows.
What happens if I stop using it?
Your data is yours. Download your YTD income CSV, delete your account, you're done. No platform lock-in. No cancellation fee. Not even a farewell email.
